ATHICA Awarded FY2025 ‘Bridge Grant’ from Georgia Council for the Arts

ATHICA Awarded ‘Bridge Grant’ from Georgia Council for the Arts for FY 2025

We are very grateful to the Georgia Council for the Arts for again providing support to ATHICA, which as an all-volunteer organization has no salaries but does have to pay a mortgage, utilities, programming expenses, and marketing expenses. The remaining 20% of our budget goes directly to artists, curators, and performers in our community, who contribute to the Athens “brand” but are being priced out of housing, studio, and practice space. These stipends help support keeping Athens the way we love it. The support of the Georgia Council for the Arts is essential to our survival, along with the support of the Athens’ community, which has kept ATHICA going for 23+ years. Please consider helping through donation or membership today: https://athica.org/donate/

The Georgia Council for the Arts is a strategic arm of the Georgia Department of Economic Development and the Bridge Grant provides funding for operating support to nonprofit arts organizations, many of which were negatively affected by COVID-19. Bridge Grants are available to arts organizations for eligible operating expenses like rent, utilities, programming expenses, and marketing. Funding for these grants is provided through appropriations from the National Endowment for the Arts and the American Rescue Plan (ARP). As part of this year’s Bridge awards, 204 entities in 44 counties will receive more than $2.6 million in funding.

Thank you so much to the Georgia Council for the Arts!
