Sonic Space Presents: Support Group & Smoggo

Support Group is Steve Houston’s solo project. Steve is also in Unus Mundus, radio:Tahiti, and Ochre Aunt. Throughout the years, Steve has sporadically created, performed, and recorded music and noise under the Support Group umbrella, sometimes by himself, and sometimes with collaborators. The music is often noisy, improvisational, ambient and/or industrial, but Steve and company have also emitted rock n’ roll, free jazz, psychedelic, blues, easy listening, and gameshow theme songs. Listen, formulate, or let go. The experiment continues. Steve will be joined by Mux Blank (Joker Joker TV) and Rob Fluhr for this performance.

Opening Act

Smoggo, is local musician Jay Domingo.  Started around the turn of the century as a punk noise electro act in the vein of Martin Rev and Throbbing  Gristle and after short diversions into performance and video art, he settled on his current configuration of sound design and improvisation with modular and semi-modular synths. When attending a Smoggo performance, expect droning modulated oscillators, minimal techno, and harsh electronic rhythms.
