Prizes! $500 in Cash Awards

Seeking contemporary art in all media that explores or references RADICAL IMPERFECTION, a term that can expressed as wabi-sabi, intentional askew-ness,  imbalance, asymmetry, distortion, happy-go-with-it, and the sensation of living today.  #RADICAL IMPERFECTION means to embrace uncomfortable, odd, or unexpected outcomes.  Risk sharing your results and enter the 2025 juried exhibition with as little perfection as you prefer.  The theme has been suggested by our esteemed juror Elizabet Elliott, Executive Director/Curator of the Alabama Contemporary Art Center.

Requirements:

  • All works must be submitted via this online entry form: https://form.jotform.com/251884687888181
  • Original artworks in any visual media may be entered.
  • Work should have been created within the last two years.
  • Please share a good quality jpeg of the work, under 10MB. We recommend that you limit your image sizes to 1280 pixels on the longest side. Video and audio files may be submitted; limited to 10MB for review; indicate in description if the file is a portion of a longer work.
  • No reproductions, works previously shown at ATHICA, or multi-piece works, such as diptychs, triptychs or grids. Sculptures must be one piece.
  • All 2-D work must be ready to hang with wire.  No saw-tooth hangers.
  • Your entry fee goes to cover the exhibition expenses and to help sustain the gallery, which is a 100% community-supported and 100% volunteer organization, providing a space for artists in Athens for 24 years. In recognition of the economic challenges faced by many artists, you may elect to pay either the standard fee of $25 or a reduced fee ranging from $5-$20. You may also request a fee waiver. ATHICA welcomes any additional support you wish to offer at this time when so many in our community are unable to provide their usual support.
Prizes: Donald Keyes Founder Award ($300) selected by juror, Community Pick ($100), and Director’s Pick ($100).
Sales: ATHICA will refer all sales inquiries directly to the artist, with the request that artists donate 30% of the sale back to ATHICA to help sustain the gallery.
Loan Agreement: All selected artists will sign a loan agreement on drop-off.
