(Black) Future (August 20th): 8 PM – 12 AM
Watermelon Woman (Cheryl Dunye), Moonlight (Barry Jenkins)
These two films present imagined and real futures for us. Queer folks often have to dig to find their own histories and stories, and to bring them into the present requires us to see time in a multidimensional and non-linear sense. For me, the future is Black, empathetic, enthusiastic, full of desire and potential.
