Doors at 7PM | Rishis at 8PM | Wet Meadows 9PM

The Rishis duo of Ranjan Kumar and Sofie Lute hail from Athens/Atlanta, and Tacoma, WA. They have been playing folk rock tunes together for a decade.  They released their debut record in 2023 on John Kiran Fernandes’ Elephant 6-affiliated record label, Cloud Recordings. E6 alumni friends helping in its creation include Scott Spillane (Neutral Milk Hotel), John Kiran Fernades (Olivia Tremor Control), Andrew Rieger (Elf Power), James Huggins III (Of Montreal), Andy Gonzalez (Marshmallow Coast), Peter Alvanos (Sunshine Fix and Elf Power), Lucy Calhoun (Dixie Blood Mustache), Todd Kelly (Phosphorescent and the Great Lakes), Wild Rumpus founder Timi Conley, and co-producer Chris Byron. The Rishis have expanded to a full band with a rotating cast of musicians playing psychedelic folk tunes with tinges of world music mixed in. They are now are nearly done with their sophomore release and will be playing a blend of old and new for the lovely Athenians joining them at ATHICA.

Wet Meadows appear to be Athens’ only purveyors of Botanical Rock (lovingly sang as ‘bot rock’ not to be confused with AI’s robot rock). These songsters use diverse organic sounds of sax, flute, glockenspiel and plant vibrations to channel strange & loving energies (VU, Luna, the Zombies) out into the dimensions … Members of Wet Meadows include Jonathan Hart (bass, flute), Nick Bradley (lead guitar), Craig Landry (drums, glockenspiel, percussion), Steve ‘the Sedge’ Chrestman (lead guitar) and Bryan Nuse (vocals, guitar, sax, synth).
