Sound Bathing, Exploration, and Improvisation
with John Kiran Fernandes, Michael Pierce, Shane Parish and Jon Vogt
~John Kiran Fernandes is a solo and collaborative multi-instrumentalist musician. A member of the Elephant Six Collective, The Olivia Tremor Control, Black Swan Network, and Circulatory System, he frequently contributes to multiple Athens-based bands’ live shows and recordings, including The New Sound of Numbers, Old Smokey, Freehand, Lavender Holyfield, Jacob Morris – Moths, and Dream Boat.
~Michael Pierce crafts spontaneous sonic environments using guitar, found objects, modular synthesizers and various electronics. He currently records and performs as sweetearthflying. Built from minute gestures, accidents and microsound, his improvisations explore the timbral complexity latent in mundane objects and instruments to reveal the hidden worlds therein.
~Shane Parish devotes much of his time to developing his singular and expressive voice on the guitar. He is a self-taught musician who communicates through emotion, unexpected melodicism, technical whimsy, a nuanced sense of form, and rich timbral variety, simultaneously drawing from the guitar’s history and aiming for its future.
~Jon Vogt is an artist and collaborative multi-instrumentalist musician who has performed recently with Immaterial Possession, Michael Pierce, A Good Pleasure, and others.
