Café Apollinaire 2025: Presented by the Georgia Fine Arts Academy

April 26 @ 6:30 pm - 10:00 pm

Café Apollinaire 2025: A Night of Artistic Discovery

The Georgia Fine Arts Academy presents its eighteenth Café Apollinaire, named for the poet Guillaume Apollinaire, a champion of the arts and leader of the avant-garde who coined the phrase “Surrealism” which celebrates its centennial this year. This annual “art-splosion” is hosted by Bowen Craig in memory of William “Bill” Bray who founded the Georgia Fine Arts Academy nonprofit in 1980. Bill’s life mission was to mentor and encourage amateur or young artists, just as Apollinaire did in Paris before and during World War I. It continues.

DATE & TIME: Saturday, April 26, 2025 – 7 pm, Doors Open at 6:30 pm

VENUE: ATHICA 675 Pulaski St., Suite 1200 (in the Leathers Bldg., Athens)
~ Gratuitement! It’s FREE and open to all who are 18 and over. Refreshments Available! Donations Appreciated!

ATHICA will be transformed into the outdoor cafés on the streets of Paris where artists gathered to share ideas and show and discuss their work. We’ll enjoy musical performances by electronic musician and looping artist Libbaloops, multifaceted performer Leslie Whitehead-O’Neal, and Sadie Hammond, delivering acoustic vocals with ukeluscious charm. Athens’ poet laureate Mikhayla Robinson Smith and author Colin Bishoff share bold new work. Theatre lovers will be treated to original monologues by Christopher Pendry and Bowen Craig’s latest comedy directed by KAT Marie Mitchell, while film enthusiasts can look forward to a short new film by Delaire Gackle and John Patrick Bray’s Barflies. Zack Jarrett will showcase his stunning visual art and animation, adding another dimension to this immersive celebration of creativity.

The Georgia Fine Arts Academy, elevating the arts for 45 years running, exists to support and promote the arts and humanities in Georgia. www.georgiafinearts.org
