ATHICA is exhibiting an international selection of micromedia works, including 6-60 second videos and animated GIFs. This Slingshot satellite event is just a stone’s throw away from downtown at the Chase Street Warehouses. Open March 31-April 9th. Stroll over for a free slice of experimental culture anytime during gallery hours or come to the final multimedia music and projections event on April 9th at 7pm, featuring Michael Lauden, Killick, and friends.  Gallery hours are Thu: 1:00 pm – 9:00 pm and Fri – Sun: 1:00 pm – 6:00 pm.

The GIF and Vine microformats are now responsible for democratizing the short form video across the Internet, in which average people can easily create and proliferate micromedia in order to engage, enlighten, and entertain. Micromedia bring together the spontaneity of participative culture and the aesthetics of digital artistic practice in a radical recontextualization of what it means to make and experience art.
