Come out for Zepubicle's evening of improvisational sets inspired by the game pinball. A recent project by Killick, quartertone guitar; Marshall Marrotte, bass; Jeff McLeod, guitar, the night will also include Colin Bragg, guitar & the Southeast debut of Id M Theft Able (voice and assorted implements) from Portland, Maine.

Each of the five musicians will present a set of improvisational guidelines for the ensemble. The five spontaneous compositions will "twist and weave with focus and surprise, leaving no stone (or flipper) unturned."

After the concert, the audience will be invited to speak informally with the musicians"

Mako Sico is an experimental/ambient three-piece from Chicago (Przemyslaw Krys Drazek, Michael Kendrick & Brent Fuscaldo). Their CD will be released by NC startup label Holidays For Quince in 2009.

According to the band’s release:
“The group took its name, a Native American term meaning "bad land," from a signpost they saw in Painted Desert, AZ. Influenced heavily by Morricone soundtracks, Beefheart and Afro-Cuban rhythms, the trio had some groundwork to build on. Fuscaldo's effected siren vocals muddy the words, sometimes it appears that he's singing in his own language--an improved bolstering that recalls Elizabeth Fraser's approach to the role of human voice.“

Athens' own Chartreuse will provide a wonderful complimentary amibient warm-up set.

An original performance event created by Maryn & Jonathan Vance, the duo behind Divided Like a Saint’s. Running approximately an hour, it features a ten-foot diameter satellite dish that the was recovered from a friend’s backyard, which the performers will take apart into sections and wear as costume pieces. Other delightful elements are hundreds of hand-fashioned multi-colored braids, which complement the performers colorful custom costumes. The dancers will also produce sounds with their costumes: for instance in one section they move around with brightly painted ski-like 2x4’s strapped to their feet.

An elaborate musical score consists of ten new compositions written by Jonathan Vance, his brother Tim Vance (Oh No They Didn’t), and drummer Toby Broadie (Rat Babies). Experimental musician Rob Peterson will also be performing. “Musically we are experimenting with telepathy, dream-like scales, and meandering chord progressions that do not necessarily repeat,” states Jonathan.

The performance will utilize Wiimote technology--the same technology that drives the popular home video interactive game--allowing Jonathan Vance to manipulate text and images projected on the gallery walls using a handmade infrared lightpen. (And for the technogeeks out there, a bluetooth protocol is being used to allow the Wiimote to talk to the computer.)

The Vances are known for combining experimental dance, live music and elaborate production elements. They formed Divided Like a Saint’s in 2004 and have toured the United States extensively since, with the group involving a rotating array of other artists for each of their projects. After relocating from Atlanta to Athens in spring of 2007, the group teamed up with local upstart label/music collective Party Party Partners.

Divided Like A Saint's musicians are known for their intriguing mix of analog electronic devices, electronically modified vocals, and unusual uses of percussion instruments.
